Daniella (also known to her young clients as Ms.Dani) is a Registered Marriage and Family Therapy Intern (RMFTI) with several years of experience working with children, adolescents, families, and adults. She was born and raised in Honolulu, HI, and has lived in Florida for several years. She has experience working in community mental health and school-based mental health therapy positions. She graduated from the University of Hawaii in 2019 with a B.A. in Psychology, a B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies, as well as a minor in Communicology. While completing her undergraduate degrees, she worked with Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii in a school-based program providing therapeutic and bonding interventions between the Bigs (mentors) and the Littles (mentees). Daniella graduated from Nova Southeastern University in 2020 with her M.S. in Family Therapy. During her Master’s program, Daniella worked with children and teens in the PROMISE program at Pine Ridge Alternative School providing individual and group therapy as well as psycho-educational materials to students who were suspended from their Broward County Public Schools. Daniella also has experience working with adults with severe mental health diagnoses and/or addiction. Through this work, Daniella has learned to connect with her clients by getting to know their life stories and helping them identify missing pages in the chapters of their lives they had once been unaware of.
Daniella is now part of CMET’s SIPS (Student Intervention and Prevention Services) Program working with various K-12 clients and their families. She enjoys working with children, teens, and their parents/families to foster and grow emotional awareness, emotional regulation, healthy family relationships, and more. She uses therapeutic approaches such as Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy when conducting sessions, as well as other interventions. She has worked with clients in low SES communities, children from divorced and/or blended families, and single-parent households. She also has experience working with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, bereavement, and more. As someone who has worked with adults who have experienced traumatic events, mental health issues, and extreme familial difficulties, she aims to help current young clients develop coping skills and communication skills to manage life stressors and difficulties. Daniella aims to foster hope, love, and care in each client that she has in order to make a positive impact in their lives.
